Reis Rond de Wereld in 80 dagen
Affiche ToysStories

A lot of tin toys from de late 19th/begin 20th century. The time colonialism was on its peak. The period of adventures expeditions, exotic peoples and cultures. First time in history you could travel around the world by train and steam ships. From railway station or port you travelled further on with horses or mules. Or, in exotic counties, on the back of an elephant or by camel train. Explorers travelled to the last spots on map where no European ever set foot before (like dark Africa, Siberia, the Poles, or the wild west of the United States). It was the period of the exciting adventures like in Jules Verne's books, the movies of Indiana Jones or recently the TV-program O' Hanlons heroes.

Hut trunks filled with goods were send home. Even freight trains and ships filled with exotic goods, animals and people were send to Europe to be exposed in museums, zoo's, circuses and at sideshow at the County Fair. ..And millions of tin figures were produced. So children could play all those adventures themselves at home. Hardly any people, animal or culture which wasn't reproduced in tin figures. Travel back in time to the period of brave man exploring the most exotic recesses of the world.
