New Masterpieces

The Nationaal Tinnen Figuren Museum has a world-famous collection of traditional tin figures. But we do not standstill. Recently we were able to extend our collection with a large number of masterpieces of contemporary miniature painters.

This expansion of the collection has been made possible by the support of Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and VSB-fonds.

These modern flat figures are especially notable by enormously increased technical craft of the model makers and painters. In former days tin figures were mass production made via assembly lines, nowadays they are frequently made by artists who try exceeding each other in perfection!

Sergei Burmistrov

Sergei Burmistrov is one of the well-known names in contemporary miniature painting. The diorama of empress Auguste Victoria belongs to the larger works in our new collection. Auguste Victoria was the spouse of emperor Wilhelm II (the last German emperor) and just like her husband she died in Holland in exil.

Notably is also the collection of tin figures based on the work of the Czech painter Alfons Mucha, dedicated to the four arts: Dance, Poetry, Music and Painting.

Gerhard Bätz

We are very proud with the acquisition of this villa Tiepoangelo.

Bätz, born in East-Germany, works already since the sixties of the previous century, with his colleague conservator Manfred Kiedorf, on their own fantasy Island of the "Gepriesenen". A world which some similarities of the rococo world of the Sanssouci palace of Frederick the Great
 but mostly created from their own rich fantasy. It is a world with its own map, own language, own literature and even a its own mythology and religion.

The painting of the Villa is done by Sergei Burmistrov.
The complete "Die gepriesene Insel" is to be admired in Schloss Heidecksburg in Rudolstadt or visit its website.

Now also to be admired in Ommen are the fancy Villa Tiepoangelo and the staircase of empress Auguste Victoria.

By this, and earlier acquisitions, our museum possesses an outstanding collection of nowadays tin figures. Our collection comprehends for example: historical figures, figures of Jugendstil motives, Sandmen, figures of comics, fantasy world and also some beautiful erotic figures.

... And much, much more.

These are just a few examples of our new collection. The other items are exposed in our museum this year and afterwards because they are now part of our extensive collection of tin figures!
